Lauren Anderson
Regional Director South Boston Office
Lauren Anderson is the Regional Manager for the South Boston field office. She is responsible for the marketing and development of VECTEC in South Boston. She organizes the educational classes offered at the Southern Virginia Higher Education Center, secures sponsorships and provides
assistance and support for local clients. Ms. Anderson graduated from James Madison University with a B.B.A. in Business Management.
Mikki Barker
Southwest Virginia Regional Director
Mikki Barker is the Regional Director of VECTEC's Abingdon office where she manages the delievery of e-commerce technologies and services to Southwest Virginia's small and medium-sized businesses. Mikki's business experience includes web development, advertising, marketing and graphic design.
Jeff Gayle
Client Services Specialist
Jeff Gayle works with clients to evaluate their business processes, determine their current level of electronic commerce readiness, and evaluate the client's expectations. Mr. Gayle is a specialist in economic, business, and customer service development for small and medium size businesses. He holds a B.S. in accounting from Norfolk State University.
Kitty Heffington
Center Development Manager
Kitty Heffington is responsible for assisting with special events and marketing efforts at VECTEC. She has more than twenty-five years experience in personnel, corporate and volunteer management. A graduate of the College of William and Mary, she is most well known for her years as the executive director at Kee Business College and as the Alumni Director at CNU. Since July 2000, Ms. Heffington has been assisting on several special projects at the Virginia Electronic Commerce Technology Center (VECTEC).
David Hoegerman
Search Engine Campaign Manager
David Hoegerman manages the Search Engine Optimization Programs at VECTEC. While the primary focus of the organic search engine optimization program is to modify a site so that it ranks highly in the free listings of search engines, Mr. Hoegerman also runs "Pay Per Click" search engine marketing campaigns for several of VECTEC's primary clients. He holds an Associates Degree in Applied Science at Tidewater Community College.
Rebekah Hughes
Web Developer
Rebekah Hughes is a Web Developer for VECTEC where she incorporates basic layout principles and aesthetic graphic design concepts in the construction of websites. Mrs. Hughes has been with the VECTEC team since 1997, and since then has added more than 50 websites to her portfolio. In addition, Mrs. Hughes has also taught and developed Internet related classes for VECTEC. Prior to her arrival at VECTEC, she was the Director of Communications for the Virginia Peninsula Chamber of Commerce where she served as webmaster and editor of the Chamber newspaper, Enterprise. Mrs. Hughes has a B.S. in Communications from James Madison University.
Nancy Jones
Business Researcher
Nancy Jones provides assistance and support for regional programs of CIT, as well as Virginia businesses through the Center for Technical Data and Information (CTDI) located at VECTEC. Ms. Jones holds a B.S. in Psychology from the University of Houston-Victoria and an M.S. in Management at Troy State University.
Keirra Junious
Intern
Keirra Junious is an intern for VECTEC providing support to all positions at VECTEC. She has been with VECTEC since 2004. She is currently a senior at Christopher Newport University majoring in Biology.
Toby Maurer
Graphic Artist
Toby Maurer is nationally known and owner of the online advertising agency "TheBrandingHouse.com." Born into a family of working artists, Mr. Maurer was raised in galleries and art classes. He received formal art training through several apprenticeships with nationally recognized artists and lived for several years in an artist cooperative in Texas. He has spent more than 17 years in the advertising, printing and software industries learning the nuances of print, new media and web development. His broad-based experience lends a unique perspective to his classes, with instruction that combines art history, design theory, technique and real-world application.
Marty McCoy
Office Manager
Marty McCoy is the Office Manager for VECTEC. She has been an integral part of the VECTEC/SEVAnet team since 1995 and has been associated with Christopher Newport University since 1970. Prior to her arrival at VECTEC, she was a member of CNU's Registrar team for 23 years.
Matthew McElroy
Information Infrastructure Administrator
Matthew McElory is responsible for the infrastructure and security that VECTEC provides to its clients on a daily basis. He has experience working in the Information Technology Department at Christopher Newport University as a System's Administrator and Network Specialist. He holds a B.S. in Information Science from Christopher Newport University.
Megen McMichael
Associate Director of Operations
Megen McMichael supervises the technical project teams in website design, shopping cart development, custom database applications and network infrastructure. She has prior experience at Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) and Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) serving as a web and application developer, project lead and business analyst for several key projects. She holds a B.S. in Information Science from Christopher Newport University.
John Miller
Associate Director
John Miller spent 18 years at WVEC-TV reporting the news and running the news department. For six years he worked in the United States Senate as a top aide to Senator Paul Trible. He was a Vice President of Christopher Newport University, ran for the Virginia House of Delegates in 2001 and headed his own consulting company. He spent 3 years in public broadcasting and today he is back at Christopher Newport University, working as Associate Director of VECTEC where he manages external affairs including the field offices.
Bill Muir
Director
Bill Muir has been associated with the e-commerce center at Christopher Newport University since its inception in 1994. Mr. Muir is Vice-Chairman of the Southeastern Virginia Electronic Commerce Forum, Co-Chairman and Charter Member of Virginia's Internet Technology Innovation Center (Internet TIC) Board of Directors, and past member of the Joint Commission on Science & Technology. He has a Bachelor of Science in Governmental Administration (B.S.G.A.), from Christopher Newport University.
Nicole Piland
Web Developer
Nicole Piland is a Web Developer for VECTEC where she works closely with clients to develop user-friendly designs and integrate e-commerce solutions. Her projects have included Karen's for Kids, Arton Etching & Imprinting and the Virginia Manufacturer's Association. She has been a member of the VECTEC team since March 2000. Previously she worked as the Director of Communications for the Virginia Peninsula Chamber of Commerce, where she served as editor for The Enterprise, as well as the website manager. She holds a B.A. in English from Gardner-Webb University, North Carolina.
Eric Schuster
Web Developer
Eric Schuster is a Web Developer for VECTEC in Newport News where he manages several key projects. He holds a bachelor's degree in Information Science with a minor in Business Administration from Christopher Newport University. Mr. Schuster consistently receives excellent reviews on his customer service to his clients.
Dave Snell
Assistant to Southwest Virginia Regional Director
Dave Snell has an Associates Degree from SVCC in Information System Technology with a specialization in E-Commerce. His knowledge includes web development and networking.
Bob VanderClay
e-Commerce Solutions Architect
Bob VanderClay provides technical expertise in all areas of eCommerce, including custom shopping cart and database application development. Prior to VECTEC, Bob designed and led several projects at General Dynamics and Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC). He holds a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Michigan.

Mark VanderClay is a Web Developer for VECTEC where he provides graphic design, web development, e-Commerce implementation and overall web support to clients.
Trevor Wright
Junior Programmer
Trevor Wright is serving an internship with VECTEC as a programmer. He is currently a senior at Christopher Newport University studying German and Computer Science.
Phyllis Weinstock
Client Services Liason
Phyllis Weinstock is our Client Services Liaison and works closely with Jeff Gayle to assist clients through our e-commerce process. She is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University and brings with her a broad communications and business management background. Prior to joining VECTEC, Phyllis served as a territory manager for both Johnson & Johnson and Schering Plough. She also worked for Legg Mason Investor Services and in the field of social work.
